How does the beginning of our work look like?

How does the beginning of our work look like? It is perfectly understandable that the first meeting with psychotherapist may be associated with tension or some fear – at this early stage, we do not know each other very well and we are only just starting to get to know each other, establishing a relationship and make therapeutic alliance. I also go to my own therapy and I understand that it can be difficult at times. That is okay, I’m here to explain what to expect. I really want you to feel as comfortable as possible during our meetings.

Our first three meetings are consultations. They are slightly different from the rest of the work – therapeutic work. Consultations are the beginning of our journey together. During those meetings, I collect detailed health interview, description of current difficulties and your life history. This is the time when we can get to know each other better

It is also the time to establish the rules of our cooperation – whether and on what terms we will meet further, how often the meeting can be canceled, what the therapist may ask the patient for (e.g. to visit a psychiatrist, endocrinologist, neurologist or other specialist, or to show documentation of the history diseases). Then we think together about the goal of our work and what you need from therapy.

Before the first meeting I send an email with all the online meetings details, necessary documents, and if needed I answer any doubts.
